of the boat that he and his crew proudly served on.

Dr. Richard Rech Wooden Military Figures

An exhibit of wooden military figures, hand-crafted by Dr. Richard Rech of Elm Grove, WI, was unveiled at the War Memorial on Memorial Day 2009. The collection is the result of a life-long passion for wood carving and US military history. Each piece is hand-carved from a single block of wood in astonishing detail. Dr. Rech, a US Army veteran (1946-47) and graduate from the Marquette School of Dentistry (1953), donated the collection to the War Memorial to inspire future generations.
